on the streets of wonju

hot, midday sun. paused at an intersection ... greeted by a 'random' white person, a teacher. i'm oblivious. she's staring at my face, recalling. suddently: her voice says my name -- "emily?" astounded, i realize she's jill. jill from high school. we marvel at the meeting. she's a teacher too. we exchange numbers, both floating on clouds of shock. i pray she calls. we've got lots to talk about.

That is so super cool! I love chance meetings like that. It makes you feel part of Gods plan, becuase thats the only way something like that could happen. I hope you keep in contact with her.
Teshah did a number on her ankle, she couldn't even stand on it, so she had to take some time off work. Just pray for some quick healing!

Hey Em!
How cool is that! -- I'm glad that you've been re-united with a friend... I hope and pray it is a blessing for you. Life here is o.k., my internet has been down for 2 days, until now, so YAY! but frustrating! Anyways, I hope you're doing well, and I'm praying for you.
Love you!
Amy

The world shrinks more and more! I just talked to one roommate from Prairie, who lives in New Brunswick, and found out she'd randomly met up with my first roommate from Prairie, also from New Brunswick. They'd never even met before this! Now I'm trying to remember if I've ever met this Jill. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time reuniting!

How bizarre is that? I love how God works to help us be just a little more comfortable in tough situations... And, now there's Jen Friesen, too!

Hi Em and Trent

How very awesome to meet an old friend in a strange land. Hope you can touch base together again. Yep, God is good! Kind of like when I went to Holland 28 years ago (to get engaged) for the first time and I was so very desparate to speak the English language and there was no family there to speak with me. Then at the bank there, we just "happened" to be helped by a girl that could speak English fluently and it was like a spring of water bursting forth from me! A God moment. ;o) Little gifts along the way.

I once heard that a stranger is just a friend that we haven't met yet. I like that thought.

Uncle Derk went to Holland yesterday for 12 days. I already missed him last night. I am sure he will be so busy having a good time with his mommy and pappy and 2 sisters and 1 brother, gabbing away in his native Dutch tongue. Nice for him not to have to translate to me along the way. Kind of like freedom for him.

Take good care. Love you both!!
Auntie D.
