cornerstone
rarely do we realize our need for the cornerstone until the building is torn down ...
crumbling under the weight of our own skins.
rarely do we realize the freedom of resting on the cornerstone
until we've tumbled to the ground
crying like little children because we can't get up.
today trent and i went to church for the first time since august...
yet we barely made it there ... our marriage under attack from a feeble fight fired by miscommunication. satan's tactic to make us hate. make us fall. yet, while crumbling, we managed to drag ourselves to church, determined to go at least once.
and we're so glad we did. joined by a small gathering of other 'yongo' (english) speakers, we sang -- at first, unwillingly -- songs like "deep and wide" and "mighty is our God"... tears dropping from our eyes and our spirits unbuttoning, exposing hurting hearts. God healed us.
it was so good to be in church.

Really, healing is what church SHOULD be all about, shouldn't it? Its Founder/Cornerstone once said, "It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call righteous people but sinners to repentance."
I'm glad He gives more grace!
i'm glad you made it out to church! it's been fun interacting in strange web-ways recently.
Hey --
I am so glad that you finally got into a church! it's true we don't realize so often how much we truly need God, until our lives fall apart before our eyes. the beauty of it all is that He continues to love us and take us back again and again, after we forget and dismantel our own lives all by ourselves, He lovingly reaches down and puts us back together again. It's not the finish that makes the container beautiful, but the many cracks and chips in the finish that show it is weathered, loved and treasured.
Praying for you! And I miss you like crazy too.
Love, A.
Yeah. Boy oh boy, it is funny how going to church really impacts our lives. There have been days when I have woken up and not wanted to go to church -- especially lately -- but I am ALWAYS glad I go. There is something about worshipping, hearing, praying with others that works on our hearts in a special way. Love you.
God is good...that is all I can say! We truly do need him in our lives! I am always blessed after reading your blog!
