fried cucumbers

bet that caught your attention, hey? :) we tried them the other night, while sitting on the floor with our friends in a korean restaurant eating at one of their barbie-sized tables :) our meal consisted of frying beef on a stove in the middle of the table, then wrapping the meat in leaves.

everything here is tiny. and if it's not, then it's attached by something tiny. take milk for example. when we went shopping at E-Mart (Korea's Superstore), we couldn't just buy a jug of milk. we had to buy a jug of milk AND a small bottle of something sweet and white that was taped to the jug. it's quite amusing. the people are tiny too, but oh so beautiful. the children have bright eyes and olive skin, and cupid-bow smiles. they are always giving us gifts of sticky sweets or blaze bugles.

the ironic part of us being here is that trenton and i still don't see each other! despite having desks next to one another, and classrooms across the hall from the other, we've been so busy planning or teaching it's as if we're back in canada, swamped by a helter-skelter world. please pray that peace soon descends and life curls back into a lovely, cozy cocoon :) it's fun flapping our wings, but we need to rest.

Hang in there - you're almost through your first week! Plan your weekend carefully - I expect you've a long list of household-related chores to be done, but only do the most essential ones this weekend; leave what can be left, and store up energy for your bodily 'building'. Exciting to hear your progress, and the warmth of your reception by the locals! You're a hit!

OH dearest. Things will calm down once you set a pace to your new life. Just keep seeing Trenton number one on the list. It's easy to put other things first. Seriously keep him number one (besides God of course) so maybe number two and you'll see that time with him just starts to happen. (You can leave some house cleaning until tomorrow. wink)
My bathroom is taking FOREVER. We still don't have a toilet and the tub tile surrond is about 2/3 done. Did you see that Trent? I used a fraction. hehe But we have begun to prime and paint and once that is done everything can be put back in, so I'm sure we're on the home stretch.
Thanks for you comments on my blog Em. Love you both.

Hey girl -- and guy =)
Rest is good,I pray that you do receive some soon. It's depressing here -- the leaves are starting to turn and all I can think about is when we'll be able to get out of here...and I don't have any friends now that your gone -- no I'm just kidding, but only about the last part!
I miss you! do take care of yourselves, be healthy and rested and in love with each other -- easier said than done, but it's important.
Loveyoutonnes!
A.
