life rolls on
the air is getting chilly here. the brilliant red flowers are fading, and gardens are being wrapped up and put away ... i hear korean winters are damp and hover around zero degrees. we are in dire need of a duvet and winter gear, so will be taking another trip to E-mart soon. this weekend, in spite of being sick with colds, we are going to take the express bus into Seoul for our first time. we are eager to check out the international food market, and to visit the travel agent in order to book upcoming trips to thailand and china. pray for wisdom and guidance for us. we don't want to overdo it, and yet the world is begging us to poke our heads into its corners and see what we have only read about in geography textbooks! our mornings are relaxed here, spent sipping coffee, strumming guitar, playing settlers online (trenton :)), painting, running, and preparing for classes. our evenings begin at 9 pm when we stumble home wearily in the dark, toast some cheese sticks in our little toaster oven (we only have a gas stove here) and then crawl into bed to flick on the satellite television. last night we watched tom and jerry.
it's a small world after all, and in spite of less appealing ideosyncracies like "squat toilets" and staring men, asia is proving to be a delightful dish of culture which we're slowly adjusting to.
please pray for the work we left behind back in alberta: young life. several of our kids are heavily into coke; another hung himself, and yet another (a new Christian) was killed in a car accident last week. pray for the workers, that God would strengthen and uphold them like never before. thank you.

Oh wow, when did young life get to be so old. Prayers said. Did anyone take the ministry over -- at least the part you were doing?
Hi Em;
It is just so amazing how God puts people in our path just when we need it. And a guitar too yet! Wow. That is so great. God is your Provider and His ways of providing for you are far beyond what you are able to figure out. He has so many ways of meeting your needs that will continually take you by surprise. He is sooo in love with YOU, His precious child! God bless you as you sleep tonight and may He waken you refreshed in the morning. Hugs to Trent too.
Luv you both!
Auntie D. and family
Sorry to hear about the hurt still happening in Alberta. I think in pastoral work a little bit of ourselves always stays attached to our (former) charges. Self-destruction is hardest to see. The car accident though has its up-side -- at least the victim can now enjoy a permanent heavenly home, thanks to his faith / Christ's work / your witness!
Hey beauty!
Sounds like your adjusting, finally hey? One month later =) Life has it's ups and downs...I heard about that young life kid in the car crash too, was wondering if you knew him.
God's work is never done, but he relieves us every once in a while. Continue to love and serve Him where you are, your hurts are His heart too. Be strong, keep living your adventure --
Love you and praying too =)
Amy
I'm so sorry to hear about your young life kids. I can't imagine the pain you are going through. Definitly praying for you and the kids.
As for poking your heads into all the world has to offer-go for it! You might as well overdue it, since you're there.
Love you both.
